Is it really October, 2025? How time flies!
WE NEED BAGS AND DONATIONS OF FOOD BY THURSDAY NOVEMBER 13TH 2025. CAN YOU HELP? Have you checked all your cupboards and drawers for old, unused bags?
Coffee Morning attendees have been busily finding bags for the local Food Bank which can get through 170 bags a week to deliver food to around 60 families. Some bags are plastic, others are not. Pauline Firman, who runs the Headley Down Food Bank is coming along to Headley Voluntary Care Coffee Morning on Thursday 13th November. She will give a talk on how things work there, how people now have to show why they are eligible to receive donations and she will answer any questions. Everyone is asked to fill the last bag they bring with food donations such as tins of fruit and vegetables, microwave rice pouches, pasta and pasta sauces, coffee, teabags, orange and blackcurrant squash, biscuits, crisps and cereals.
HVC Coffee Morning is busy these days: sausage rolls to raise money for The Rosemary Foundation are sold once a month, movement to music happens once a month and we'll soon be starting soup and a roll lunch as Winter arrives. And there's always coffee, a cheery chat and the chance of winning a raffle prize.
The Christmas Party will be on 18th December this year. No doubt Santa and his National Elf Service will be on duty again.
A BIG THANK YOU!
We are delighted to tell you that our fundraising tea party (our first ever, so it was an experiment) raised approximately £800 which was far beyond our expectations as was the high attendance! Thank you so much for supporting us, by buying entry tickets and raffle tickets, especially those of you who split themselves between the Horticultural Society Summer Show and Headley Voluntary Care. We did try to target the non-gardeners.
It was a lovely old fashioned tea party with pretty crockery including milk, sugar, cream and jam on pretty tablecloths for each table, The cake stands and pretty plates were loaded with sandwiches, scones and cakes, including gluten free options. Teapots kept coming with more tea for anyone. We think perhaps next time we could have more teapots.
Matthew provided excellent background music, including some of his own arrangements, which was perfect for the atmosphere. Thank you Matthew.
A huge thank you to the amazing team of helpers who worked very hard to support us on the committee. I won't list them yet in case I miss anyone out! You were all superb. Watch this space.
I shall try to post some pictures soon, a skill I haven't completely mastered yet, but meantime many thanks everyone, from our committee: Keith, Ian, Mike, Rosemary, Carole and Liz.
Best Wishes
Liz

MAY BANK HOLIDAY 2025
We have a stall on Headley village green on Monday 5th May to help to celebrate Headley Village Hall being 100 years young! Please come along to say hello. You can't miss the BIG BANNER and if it rains, there might be room for you under the gazebo.
Find out what we are up to and try out a few fun things like 'Guess the weight of the cake that Rosemary baked' Some events include:
- Movement to Music every second Thursday of the month at Coffee Morning in Headley Church Centre - and as May 8th is VE day a wartime singalong might be fun. On the first Thursday of the month we buy our lunch in the shape of Brenda's sausage rolls. Profits go to the Rosemary Foundation. In winter soup and a roll are served for lunch.
- On Saturday June 28th we have our fundraiser, which is not a garden party like last year, but a tea party in and around Headley Church Centre. PICK UP A LEAFLET at the gazebo for TEA at THREE but come at 2 to find out more. There are some surprises as well as plenty of delicious things to eat.
- Other leaflets include details of how to become a driver or coordinator to do your bit to help the smooth running of this essential organisation. Also, if anyone wanted to volunteer to help out at Coffee Morning occasionally, details of how are available.
- Our members have suggested several things we could do at Coffee Morning such as: learning a bit of British Sign Language, Bingo, short quizzes, singalongs, guest speakers and of course, they'd love another performance from our ancient rockers who are appropriately named "Deja Who" . Their first hit was "The Young Ones" - of course.
